Edmond #Tapsoba's representatives were in London this week-end in order to discuss the personal terms with #Tottenham. I understand the meet-up was constructive and that talks are progressing 'significantly' as - for example - the salary of the #B04 player has already been discussed. Nein, meistens nicht. Zuerst muss der aufnehmende Verein eigentlich eine Einigung mit dem Spieler finden, ansonsten kann man sich ja die Verhandlung mit dem Verein sparen. Und eine Einigung mit dem Spieler ist meist schneller gefunden als mit dem abgebenden Verein.

Tottenham are set to hold talks with Bayer Leverkusen early next week for the potential transfer of Edmond Tapsoba, according to Fabrizio Romano, speaking on the Debrief Podcast with CaughtOffside.
Tapsoba has impressed in the Bundesliga and seems to be emerging as Spurs’ priority in defence this summer, though there also remains the possibility that Leverkusen’s asking price will be too high for them.
Romano believes that Tapsoba is Spurs’ preferred option at the moment, but he could also be more expensive, which would then lead them to go for Van de Ven instead, depending on the outcome of talks with Leverkusen next week.

Once more: Tapsoba is the most important defender of Bayer and in a state of very many changes in the team a backbone they are rather not thinking leave alone planning to sell, maybe only for a dizzying sum. With a TM value of 30M € I do not think we are even close to this sum.
I see the general likeliness of a sale of Eddy this period at about 10%. That is also what I hear from the club officiaks: The want to improve and reinforce the team and have very ambitious plans themselves. The only want to sell players before they risk to them as free agents in two years. This is particularly the case with Diaby, Frimpong and Tah, apart from these tgey sold Bakker and want to get rid of Demirbay, Amiri, Fosu-Mensah and maybe Azmoun.

Schloss doch Simon Rolfes am Dienstag auf dem Trainingsplatz am Mannschaftshotel einen Verkauf des Abwehrspielers in dieser Transferperiode mehr oder weniger aus. So erklärte der 41-Jährige auf die Frage, ob es für ihn denkbar sei, dass Tapsoba Bayer in diesem Sommer verlässt, eindeutig. "Nein, unter normalen Umständen nicht! Dass es irgendwann immer mal Grenzen gibt, ist klar. Aber Edmond ist ein ganz wichtiger Spieler."
Er habe am Morgen sogar nochmal mit dem 24-Jährigen gesprochen, den er ohne Wenn und Aber in die Kategorie der Schlüsselakteure einordnet. "Er ist einer der Topspieler unserer Mannschaft, ohne Frage. Er hat noch lange Vertrag. Von daher gibt es da für uns gar keinen Grund, darüber nachzudenken, ihn abzugeben", so Rolfes.

Sollte Tottenham oder ein anderer Club 70+ Mio bieten, dann wird man hier sicher nachdenken. Aber das ist nicht zu erwarten und bei Tottenham war ja bereits abzusehen, dass sie sich eher auf den günstigeren van de Ven konzentrieren, wenn Leverkusen nicht bereit ist zu verkaufen.

Dass Rolfes ihn nicht verkaufen möchte und Leverkusen zwingend adäquaten Ersatz finden möchte, ist zwar eine Sache, die das Ganze deutlich unwahrscheinlicher macht, aber auszuschließen ist es nicht.
Wenn Tottenham zwischen 50 und 60 Millionen bieten sollte, nachdem es womöglich die Kane-Millionen hagelt, wird man schwach werden müssen. Da es derzeit sogar mit Plan B - namentlich van de Ven - stockt, wird Tottenham eventuell lieber mehr ausgeben, um den Plan A zu verwirklichen.
