The Magpies have been looking at a list of possibilities in the Premier League but clubs are only likely to loan out third choice keepers.
However, it is understood that Manchester United keeper Victor Valdes would be open to a loan move.
His agent Gines Carvaja said last month that the ex-Barcelona keeper was finished at Old Trafford and would be willing to move in January.
But Newcastle’s dire goalkeeping situation could offer him an early escape route.
