Nottingham Forest have made a verbal offer to sign midfielder Youssouf Fofana from Monaco.
The proposal of £29.8million (€35m) plus add-ons is at a level the Ligue 1 club would be prepared to accept.
Forest are also in contact with Fofana's representatives as they try to reach an agreement with the 24yo France international. Other clubs are closely monitoring the situation.
Fofana joined Monaco from Strasbourg in 2020 and made 47 appearances in total for the French club last season, scoring two goals and providing two assists.
